Tips for Your Oktoberfest Adventure

  • Opening weekend (September 20-21, 2025): traditional keg tapping and big crowds

  • Weekdays (Mon-Thu): fewer guests, more relaxed atmosphere

  • Second weekend (September 27-28, 2025): "Italian weekend" - lively atmosphere, very busy

  • Final weekend (October 4-5, 2025): many farewell parties, high attendance

  • Family days (Tuesdays): reduced prices and a relaxed Wiesn visit for families

Tip: Check the Wiesn Barometer for real-time crowd forecasts and avoid the lines!

  • From Flemings Hotel München‑City: about a 10‑minute stroll

  • From Flemings Hotel München‑Schwabing: about 15 minutes by U‑Bahn (U3/U6)
  • Book well ahead! Most tables in the large tents are reserved months in advance. Check the individual tent websites.

  • Spontaneous spots: arrive early (before 2 p.m.) for a better chance of finding a seat — especially on weekdays.

  • Outdoor beer gardens: Many tents have outdoor areas that often don't require reservations.

Good to know: Beer gardens at the Oktoberfest tend to be crowded and noisy. Alternatively, enjoy regional treats and freshly tapped beer at our Flemings Hotel beer garden in Schwabing - perfect for getting in the mood or unwinding away from the hustle and bustle.

  • Try the smaller tents: while the big tents are usually overcrowded, the cozy traditional tents often offer more space.

  • VIP experiences and packages: Some tents offer packages with guaranteed seats, drinks and food - ideal for groups or corporate guests.

Lisa - Our Wiesn Insider

Born and raised in Munich, Lisa knows the Oktoberfest like the back of her hand. She has been part of the Flemings family for seven years: after completing her apprenticeship, she became Assistant Front Desk Manager at the Flemings Hotel Munich-City.

Lisa developed a passion for the traditional Oktoberfest experience already at an early age. With a collection of 15 Dirndls, she loves to share her best insider tips and secrets - from the hottest spots to the must-have outfits.

Lisa's Top 5 Insider Tips

My favorites are the Fischer-Vroni and the Augustiner Festzelt - that's real Oktoberfest flair. Wine lovers should check out Kuffler's Weinzelt.

Without a reservation, you can often find a seat before 4 p.m. on weekdays - get there early (7 a.m.) or try the side entrances and Wiesn beer gardens. Smaller tents fill up more slowly, but are just as festive.

If the crowds get too intense, the Augustiner Keller beer garden or the Augustiner Bräustuben are great alternatives.

For something more traditional, try the Oide Wiesn - quieter, cozy and perfect for families.

Insider rides: Feldl's Teufelsrad (Devil's Wheel) and the Toboggan are legendary classics - watching is just as much fun as participating! Thrill-seekers should try the Wilde Maus roller coaster

Roast pork with dumplings and cabbage salad or grilled Steckerlfisch (fish grilled on a stick) from Fischer-Vroni are a must. Sweet tooth? Try the Dampfnudel with vanilla sauce or the Kaiserschmarrn at the Café Kaiserschmarrn tent by Rischart.

Best Maß of beer? For me it's the Augustiner Festzelt! And chocolate-covered fruit or candied almonds are perfect between rounds.

For beautiful yet affordable Dirndls and Lederhosen, I recommend Daller Tracht and Angermaier. If you need to rent a Dirndl, just ask - we're happy to help! Flyers with all the info are available in the lobby.

Absolute no-gos: plastic Dirndls, ultra-short versions and over-the-knee boots. Sneakers, on the other hand, are totally fine.

The bow can reveal your relationship status: a bow on the left usually means "single"; a bow on the right usually means "taken" or "married".

A bow tied in the back or center usually means "hands off" - it's often worn by female servers.
